Social login doubles sign-up completion
Creating a new account means inventing another password, verifying an email, and adding yet another login to the pile of credentials nobody remembers. Every step is a reason to leave.
"Continue with Google" is one click. No password to create. No email to verify. The user is in immediately. Sign-up completion rates typically double when social login is available alongside traditional email sign-up.
Keep both options. Some users don't trust social login with certain products. Others prefer it for everything. Showing "Continue with Google" prominently above the email form gives the fast path to the majority while keeping the traditional path for the rest.
The order matters. Social login buttons above the email form signal "this is the fast way." Email form above social buttons signals "this is the normal way and here's a shortcut." Most sites convert better with social login on top.
Add Google Sign-In above your email sign-up form. Track completion rate for each method separately. Most users will pick the fastest path.
