Real scarcity beats timers

Countdown timers used to work. Then everyone added them. Now most people ignore them or actively distrust them. Especially the ones that reset when you refresh the page.

Real scarcity is different. "Only 4 left in stock" works because it's specific, it's believable, and it creates genuine urgency. Not manufactured pressure.

The distinction matters. Fake urgency erodes trust. Real inventory data builds it. People can tell the difference, even if they can't articulate why.

If you have actual scarcity, show it. Stock levels, limited spots, real deadlines. If you don't have real scarcity, don't fake it. You'll get a short-term bump and a long-term trust problem.

Try this

Replace countdown timers with real inventory or availability data. If you don't have real scarcity, remove the fake urgency entirely.
