Your thank-you page is wasted real estate
Someone just bought from you. They're happy. They're engaged. They're on a page that gets literally 100% of their attention because they're checking that the order went through.
Most confirmation pages show an order number and say "check your email." That's it. You just wasted the highest-attention moment in the entire customer journey.
What works on a thank-you page: a referral prompt ("Share with a friend, get $10"), a one-click upsell ("Add this for 20% off, ships with your order"), a survey question ("What almost stopped you from buying?"), or a social share button.
The referral prompt alone can drive a meaningful share of new customers if the incentive is right. The upsell can increase AOV noticeably. The survey gives you conversion research you can't get any other way. Pick one. Don't do all four.
Look at your current thank-you page. If it only shows an order number, add one element: a referral prompt, an upsell, or a one-question survey.
